Care

Our wares are printed in plant-based PLA and weather-resistant PETG, then finished by hand. With a little care they hold up beautifully for years. Here's how to keep yours looking its best.

Watering and drainage

Planters that are meant to hold water are printed in PETG and ship with a drainage tray. Empty the tray after watering so the base doesn't sit in standing water. For decorative PLA pieces, we recommend keeping your plant in a plastic nursery liner and watering that, rather than pouring water directly into the print.

Either way, avoid leaving water pooled inside or under a piece for long stretches. It's better for the plant and for the print.

Heat and sun

PLA softens at high temperatures, so keep PLA pieces out of direct hot sun, off radiators, and never in a parked car on a warm day. A bright windowsill indoors is fine. PETG handles heat and the outdoors much better, but a shaded spot still extends the life of any piece.

Cleaning the matte finish

Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and a drop of mild dish soap if needed. Skip abrasive pads, bleach, and harsh solvents: they can dull or mark the matte surface. Dry with a soft cloth and let any drainage tray air-dry fully before putting it back.

Handling

The prints are solid but not indestructible. A drop onto a hard floor can chip or crack a piece, the same as ceramic. Lift planters from the base rather than the rim, especially when they're full.

A note on color

Matte filaments can pick up a slight sheen from skin oils with heavy handling. A gentle wipe brings the matte look back. Color may also mellow very slightly over years in strong light, which we think only adds character.

Caring for the plants

This guide is about the pots. For the plants that go in them, watering, light, and a quick guide by plant type, see our plant care guide.
